Giving babies the best start for the rest of their lives...

The NERDS Trial

EEGs (a machine that detects brain waves) for extended periods of time are very important for newborns because many times the seizures that newborns experience cannot be seen clinically. Continuous EEGs are necessary so that the newborns can receive proper treatment. However, the EEG electrodes can cause skin breakdown and can be uncomfortable for the newborn. Dr. Harbert has developed an innovative tattoo like device that could alleviate the need for EEG electrodes and revolutionize seizure detection in neonates.
